The law firm of Cooper & Scully, P.C. is pleased to introduce Derek Staub, shareholder in the Dallas office. Derek is a trial attorney with a primary focus on white collar criminal defense. In 2017, Derek was honored as a Top 10 Under 40 Criminal Defense Attorney for the state of Texas by the National Academy of Criminal Defense Attorneys. His litigation practice covers a wide spectrum in white collar criminal defense, including government investigation, healthcare fraud, conspiracy, anti-kickback violations, and Stark violations. Further, Derek handles all types of state criminal actions from misdemeanor DWIs to felony drug charges.
In addition to his white collar practice, Derek also provides guidance and counsel to his corporate clients by conducting internal investigations and audits involving allegations of securities and health care fraud, employee misconduct, compliance-related issues, and health care audits of physicians’ practices. Derek works closely with his healthcare clients, including physicians, corporations, and other business entities in developing compliance and ethics programs. Derek also represents physicians and health care providers in various types of civil matters, including Texas Medical Board disputes.
