R. Brent Cooper Receives "Trial Legend" Award from Dallas Bar Association

Dallas, TX - R. Brent Cooper was honored at a luncheon today at the Arts District Mansion in Dallas, Texas.  Brent was named a "Trial Legend" by the Dallas Bar Association Tort and Insurance Practice Section.  The TIPS Trial Legends program serves to memorialize the stories of legendary lawyers in Texas, and to use those stories to impart a greater understanding of the law and the role of lawyers to make a difference in their practice of law.  The legends program offers a chance to learn from the top trial and insurance lawyers in Texas with decades of experience. 

The DBA's purpose is to serve and support the legal profession in Dallas and to promote good relations among lawyers, judges, and the community.  The DBA offers its members many opportunities to develop their careers, get involved, and give back to the community. 

R. Brent Cooper has practiced in Texas and other states since 1977. His practice has been primarily in the trial and appellate areas. He has tried over 100 jury trials and argued over 500 cases on appeal and over 500 published opinion. He often serves as a mediator in civil cases.   He has handled many of the constitutional challenges to the Texas Medical Liability Act. Brent is certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Personal Injury. He was named a True Texas Legend in Insurance Law by the State Bar in 2007. He is currently admitted in the states of Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Arkansas.  He has handled cases in every court of appeals in Texas and most of the federal circuits. He is one of the authors of Cooper, Furness and Marshall’s  “Texas Rules of Civil Procedure Annotated.” He has authored many law review articles and is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education programs in Texas and other states. He heads up two foundations for Christian schools in Latvia and Myanmar.
