David Watson is a business litigation attorney in the Dallas office of Cooper & Scully. David focuses his practice on complex business and commercial litigation matters across a wide spectrum of industries. David delivers a deep understanding of complex business issues and is a trusted advocate and strategic counselor for clients in various state and federal courts. David represents a broad array of clients including Fortune 500 companies with sophisticated in-house legal departments and business owners in entrepreneurial startups. David has litigated cases involving complex contracts, real estate, intellectual property, premises liability, and employment matters.
David also has experience in international white collar investigations and international trade compliance. David previously served as a member of a court-appointed legal team tasked with monitoring a foreign telecommunications company in the largest export compliance and trade sanctions monitorship in U.S history. In that role, David led and conducted international site visits, investigations, and audits involving dozens of countries and evaluated the company’s compliance with its obligations under settlement and plea agreements reached with the Bureau of Industry and Security, Office of Foreign Asset Control, and the Department of Justice.
While in law school, David pursued advocacy in the courtroom. David served on the National Civil Mock Trial Team and was brief writer and oralist at the Wilhelm C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court in Vienna, Austria. David also served as Associate Managing Editor of the International Law Review and research assistant to Professor Marc Steinberg where he honed his writing skills and research on corporate securities law.
Originally from Europe, David is bilingual in Croatian and is a dual U.K/U.S citizen. Outside of the office, David is an avid sportsman and fan of the Dallas sports teams as well as Premier League football in his native England.
