Julie is first and foremost a bankruptcy attorney dedicated to helping people and their businesses primarily in the Southern District of Texas. She assists people in obtaining a fresh start in life through a Chapter 7 proceeding, close a business in a Chapter 7 proceeding, or to reorganize their lives or business in a Chapter 11 Proceeding. Julie has filed over 1,500 cases in the Southern District of Texas, including filing and confirming over 100 business and personal Chapter 11 plans. Her main goal in life is making the bankruptcy process as simple and painless as possible, given the circumstances surrounding each case. Julie works primarily off of referrals from former clients and other attorneys who understand and value her experience in the Federal Bankruptcy Courts. Julie maintains her primary office in Houston with a satellite office in the Woodlands for her client’s convenience.
In addition, a portion of Julie’s practice is representing Chapter 7 and 11 Trustees to maximize the recovery to unsecured creditors while keeping costs and expenses to a minimum. Representing Trustees gives Julie the unique perspective of knowing what a Trustee is seeking to collect and sell for the benefit of the creditors, knowledge she uses in representing her individual clients as well.
Julie is a shareholder in the Houston office of Cooper & Scully and may be reached on her direct line at 713/236-6825 or by email at Julie.Koenig@cooperscully.com.

Although not a trustee herself, she frequently attends the seminars by the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees to keep up with the trends surrounding the Trustee practice. She is a speaker and has presented topics at several seminars, including the International Bankruptcy Seminar in Rome/Florence, Italy.
Julie began her career as an associate attorney for J. Craig Cowgill & Associates, P.C. from 1989 until 1998 when she formed her own private practice. In 2001 she and Rodney Tow, a Chapter 7 Trustee, formed Tow & Koenig, PLLC, a bankruptcy practice located in the Woodlands, Texas. It was through this partnership that Julie developed her experience working for and with Chapter 7 and 11 Trustees. In September of 2014, Rodney Tow semi-retired and relocated to the Texas Coast. Although Julie still represented him as a Chapter 7 Trustee, maintaining their practice in the Woodlands was no longer practical so in December of 2014, Julie joined Cooper & Scully, P.C. as a senior shareholder.
