Kate is an associate in the firm’s Austin office where her practice focuses on appellate law and healthcare liability defense.
Kate, a seventh generation Texan raised in San Antonio, received a B.A. in English from the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with honors. While at UT, she was awarded the Bernard Rapoport Scholarship to study literature at Brasenose College, Oxford University, U.K. In 2010, Kate earned her M.A. with honors in Writing from the University of Southern California. Before attending law school, Kate worked in the writing and publishing industries.
In 2018, Kate received her Juris Doctorate from Baylor Law School. She was awarded the Dean’s Academic Excellence Scholarship, was inducted into the Order of the Barristers, and was a Dean’s List recipient on multiple occasions. Kate also had the distinct honor of receiving the John B. and Eula Berly Fisher Award in Constitutional Law, which is awarded to those students who achieve the highest grade in Constitutional Law and related subjects. She was a member of the Student Bar Association and the Women’s Legal Society. Kate is an integral member of the Cooper & Scully appellate team, which is at the forefront in addressing Texas’ most significant medical malpractice issues, most recently whether healthcare providers should be forced to defend complex medical cases through virtual jury trials.
Kate is active in the Austin community and an avid Longhorn and Spurs fan. She enjoys exploring the city with friends and her dogs, Daisy and Gatsby.
