James D. Stanton
Jim Stanton has had an extensive trial practice in Texas state and federal courts for over 30 years. He was born, raised and educated in and around Cleveland, Ohio. Upon receiving a law degree, Jim moved to Dallas and immediately began working as an Assistant District Attorney in Dallas County, Texas. This position gave Jim the opportunity for numerous jury trials during his three years prosecuting various criminal cases.
Jim then set out to practice in the civil courts. He has taken jury verdicts throughout the State of Texas in the areas of trucking litigation, toxic tort exposure, labor and employment, construction defect cases, premises liability, collection cases, products liability and business dissolutions.
Prior to joining Cooper & Scully, Jim was the managing partner of his small Dallas law firm that opened in 1995. A small degree of his success in the legal field is due to Jim’s understanding that clients’ expect their lawyers to be committed, prepared and cost effective. If the case cannot be resolved reasonably, he's not afraid to take it to the courthouse.
