When the laws changed in October of 2005, the new laws require that you must take a credit counseling course before you can file for bankruptcy. We use the Allen Credit and Debt Counseling which is a friendly, convenient way to obtain your credit counseling. You can take the course online or over the phone, at your convenience.
After you have filed but before you may obtain a discharge, you have to take another, shorter, debt counseling course. We also use Allen Credit and Debt Counseling for this service. You must take this second course within 60 days of the date set first for you creditor’s meeting or your case will be closed without your receiving a discharge. We will remind you of the deadline and you must let us know when you have taken the course so that we can file the certificate with the Court. If you fail to take the second course timely and the Court closes your case without a discharge, the Court requires another filing fee to reopen your case, file the certificate, and get your discharge.
We are a debt relief agency. We help people file for bankruptcy relief under the Bankruptcy Code.
